The sky reddens and so does the sea

and the horizon catches the molten gold.
The evening comes in like a fury;
behold its territorial glory.
The splendor is melting fast
with the onset of the dark.
Stand steadfast on the shore,
digging your feet in the sand.
This moment, the shadows
are migrating
from the coast, inward towards the land..
It's dark, dark across the land
and soon the sea will be swallowed
by the night's gigantic shadow,
ominous, sinister, the shadow of the night;
it will come like a pirate to plunder the sea
and gather all the gold in its vast folds'
Let me stand awhile, on the darkening shore
a witness to the reddened sea and the sky.

A Tribute to Purnima Dabholkar
Desire responding
like a flower in osmosis
taking in slowly
the touch, the feverish grasp.
The absence.
A traumatic loss
of the proximity.
The flower
without age.
After a spell of withering
a tide of yearning
calls.
A waste of beauty
can be frightening.
The beauty without a mirror to know its magic
without the seeping rain, absorbing sky,
and without the earth to take it in.
Years go by as the Desire renews the Body
feeling a shower of kisses
falling on its soil
The typing of fingers
stopping in wait,
for the emerging note
from the warm cavern .
A mermaid rises
pressing her palms
against the water ,
Desire rises.

 Tantalizing, inward, calm,

gazing like a Narcissus at self.
Posing, but lost.
Stunned by the dazzle, chooses to stay
in shadow,
aware that a candle
is enough to set on fire
anything that comes too near.
