In The Deep Midnight

In the deep midnight she slept

on a watery bed.
All around was the lake,
and the lake brought forth thousands of mushrooms
covering her in shadows.
The night was long and her bed afloat,
drifting past the thousands of midnights
she had never slept before.
In the dawn was the prayer
the autumn sang for every soul.
