A sheer uplifting dart
a sudden gust of a wind
and the bird changes the path.
A shifting line of the hill on the sky
and the bird drinks from the chalice to upward fly.
Longer and wider and dazzling, conquering the eye
the perspective grows
and there is no place for a pause.
The wings have taken the rush of the high,
a tide in the sky.
"Ahoy, my boy, this isn't the sea; this is the sky."
"Ahoy, my captain, I am no longer the boy
who did not know
how to row;
In the place of the oar you've given me wings,
and instead of the mast you have given me a single eye.
Do not worry; I can intuit the path."

For hours the little girl was sitting on her haunches.
The color of her summer dress blended
with the blue of the sky and the sea.
For hours her hands were working the shapes in the sand
and the castle in her mind was yet to take the form of her dream.
A pensive look was gathering around her face.
The roar of the sea, the howl of the distant wind
the sun beating upon them all, relentlessly;
the girl was getting the taste
of what it means to work against the odds.
Tired she was, but not so exhausted as to give up the bid.
Her will was pitted against the odds.
A sensitive bond was forming among them all,
the girl, the sea, the wind, the sky and her dream.

I love the kind of tired
that comes from
a lot of fresh air
and a little too
much sun.

Have a sweet Sunday

The scents of the woods
oppressive, intimately close
when the seasons swing around,
A dark swoon strikes you down
and makes you hit the ground.
A river flows somewhere away, far from where I am.
A rain of falling leaves, the sounds of the larks singing in the dark,
they make up and seal the world and the time.
Illusions scale the distances, float in the river for awhile.
The intoxication that comes
with obsessions and dreams
is obsession still.
Let me open my eyes
and see how brief and strange all this is.
But let me listen and hear the voice that says,
"let the brief and the strange be forever true
as in the trance and the dream."

If we lived forever, maybe
we’d have time to understand
things. But as it is, I think
the best we can do is try to
open our eyes and appreciate
how strange and brief
all of this is.

Slow down, slow,
like the traffic lights, dim,
slow down, like the single moon,
bewildered among the clouds.
Slow down , like the escalator running
at the regulated speed despite the pressure
and stress of the climbers
in a hurry not knowing where to reach.
The city lights glimmer like thousands of eyes, dazzled and seeing nothing.
Slow down to reflect on the single page
inscribed with the image of a maple leaf.
Slow down for the sparkling wine
red and deep. The last drop waiting
for you to touch the brim.
At the end of the day, slow down
and hold yourself lightly
under the drizzle of the spray of shower
and wash your blues away

A RANDOM LEAF
A walk through the corridors of prayer halls,
crossing the beams of light and shades,
steep ascents over hills and dales,
through mists and blinding rains,
my journeys have brought me a glimpse
of the void within.

The rain and the mists slide over
the hills and the shades of grey.
The opulence of the rain
and the insistence of the green,
that I must stay
a little longer to speak,
to hold a dialogue with the one who listens
whenever I have the need.

A surge of empathy draws,
and I borrow a leaf from the Great Tree of life;
I scribble my thoughts and let the leaf float
in the hope that someday, somewhere
in times of grief, this leaf may reach
randomly some heart in need.
