Seeking In The Abbey
The abbey, a place that keeps the fire on,
a place that draws you in search of the lost,
seeking a recompense for joys denied and raptures sacrificed.
with the light added by the seeker's torch.
The abbey in a forest hidden from the sight of passers by,
The bonfire guards the gate with no ceremony,
the wolves with a high and plaintive pitch
appeal to moon that the moon
may shine, not wane so soon.
An arch of stones sanctifies and guards
the entrance where no sentry stands.
The Word is enshrined within, the word sought by pilgrims
on and on.
Sushama Karnik.
Thanks to Tighe O Donoghue Ross for the image and inspiration.
